Crews continue demolishing MHS classroom wings
GOING, GOING, GOING . . .
MHS demolition
Crews on Tuesday continued to demolish Manteca High classroom wings dating back to 1947 to make room to construct a new two-story classroom structure and media center.

Work has started on the replacement and expansion of the Manteca High faculty parking lot on the southwest corner of Yosemite and Sherman avenues.

The lot will be expanded more toward the library as well as toward the old classroom wings that are being torn down.

It will be ready for use when school starts Aug. 4 along with 22 new replacement classrooms in a two-story building as well as a new CTE (Career Technical Education) building in the final stages of construction.

The next phase of construction will be the building of a two-story structure with 32 classrooms and a new media center along Sherman Avenue where demolition of classroom wings dating back to 1947 is now underway.

After that is completed two years from now, the next phase of work at Manteca High will include remodeling the administrative office complex and converting the current library into an art room complex.

The work is being funded with proceeds from the $260 million Measure A bond approved by voters in November 2020.

A future phase will include remodeling and expanding the cafeteria.
