Cracks are issue for Ripon tennis courts

The Acacia Park tennis courts at the Ripon Community Center gets plenty of play.

The Ripon Christian High team uses the City of Ripon facilities during the school year while the Parks & Recreation Department offers various programs.

But crack damages recently developed along at least two of the four courts, with the Parks & Recreation Commission addressing the issue at the Oct. 9 meeting.

“The plan for the short term is to fill in the cracks,” said Director Kye Stevens.

As for the long term, he’s hoping that the city can secure funding source to repair the damages.

Stevens estimated that the work could be costly.

“We get a ton of use from the community,” he added. “The courts are still usable for now.”

The Parks & Recreation Commission also discussed the current programs and the field rental fees during the meeting.
