Ripon firefighters praised resourceful of two community members Wednesday in containing a vegetation blaze that threaten two homes.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m.
“At the time, all Ripon fire units were already committed to other emergencies,” the Ripon Consolidated Fire District posted via social media.
Medic 61 was in Stockton transporting a patient to a local hospital.
Engine 2-1 and the on-duty Battalion Chief were responding to a vehicle accident in an area north of Ripon.
Mutual aid was also requested – Manteca City Fire’s response was delayed due to traffic, according to RCFD.
It was then that the two community members stepped in to help. They quickly found a nearby garden hose and were able to contain the fire in a backyard before it reached the homes.
“Their fast action made all the difference,” said local firefighters. “Without their help, the outcome could have been much worse.
Incidents like this once again highlights the importance of needing additional resources, RCFD added.
