The tennis courts at the Ripon Community Center

The City of Ripon’s Parks and Recreation Commission will meet today at 6 p.m. in Conference Room at City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

On the agenda is the tennis court reconstruction project at the Community Center along with the 2024 fall / winter recreation programs.

The Ripon City Council recently awarded the contract to Consolidated Engineering, Inc. to handle the work on the tennis courts, which, according to the staff report, had “exceeded their useful life” and was in need of replacing.

The tennis courts, based on the layout, would be able to accommodate four regulation tennis courts and eight pickleball courts after the new striping.

While the tennis post and net system would be permanent, the pickleball net system – purchased by the City separately from the construction contract – would be on wheels and could be moved, depending on the use of the courts.
