Chuck Winn is the new chair of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors.
The board Tuesday elected Winn to replace Tom Patti. Robert Rickman was elected vice chair.
Winn is serving his second four-year term. Under county term limits the Ripon resident won’t be able to run again when his term ends in January 2023.
Winn represents the current fourth district that encompasses Ripon, Escalon, eastern San Joaquin County and Lodi.
Rickman is a Tracy resident in his first term as the District 5 supervisor. The realigned district will include Ripon, Escalon the rural area south of Manteca as well as Tracy and Mountain House. Before the re-districting process Manteca south of Yosemite Avenue and River Islands at Lathrop were in Rickman’s district. His current term expires in January 2025.
“I want to thank my colleagues for their trust and confidence,” Rickman said in a news release. “I look forward to working with our county residents as well as my fellow Board Members to tackle the challenges that remain before us in 2022.”
Both Winn and Rickman served as mayors of their respective communities — Ripon and Tracy — before gaining election to the Board of Supervisors.
Winn replaces Tom Patti as supervisor. Patti’s newly aligned District 3 includes all of Manteca as well as all of Lathrop as well as the Delta regions and a section of northwest Stockton. Previously he represented Manteca only north of Yosemite Avenue and Lathrop only north and east of the San Joaquin River.
Patti terms out in January 2025. He is running for the new Congressional District that includes Stockton, Tracy, Manteca, Mountain House and Ripon.
