Caroline Hutto was re-elected as board president of the Ripon Unified School District.

At the Dec. 12 meeting, she was nominated to continue at the helm by her colleague Kit Oase during the annual reorganization of board / election of officers session.

Hutto, in turn, nominated Jason Winter, who is in his first term in office, as vice president.

Oase, who served as vice president of the board for the past year, will take over as clerk. He was nominated for the position by Trustee Vince Hobbs.

Superintendent Ziggy Robeson will continue service as secretary of the school board.

Hutto also served as board president in back-to-back years in 2019 and 2020. Those were difficult times given the COVID-19 pandemic. “I had no idea what was coming,” she said two years ago.

That was a time when school districts were forced to shot down and students and their teachers opted for distance learning.

The new officers will begin their term at the January meeting.
