Calla High graduates 120+ at 2024 ceremonies

The first of many Manteca Unified graduation ceremonies took place Wednesday with about 120 or so Calla High seniors listed for the distribution of diplomas.

The special ceremony honoring the Class of 2024 was held at Delta College’s Atherton Auditorium, and once again included student recognitions, from senior awards to the awarding of scholarships.

Brandon Popoca was the recipient of several scholarships, including Soroptimist International of Manteca, Dan Beukelman Memorial Scholarship, Central Valley Association of Realtors, and Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis.

Calla High also recognized the following:

·         Senior Department Awards – Algebra Robotics, Alfonso Lizarraga; Art, Tony Ring; English, Naomi Torres-Marquez; Leadership, Julissa Herrera; Math, Shelsea Lopez Garcia; Physical Education, Damian Duenas; Science, Angel Jarquin; Service, Kayla Alvarez; Social Science, Celeni Vazquez Espinoza; Yearbook, Tatiana Sanchez.

·         Scholarships – Gabriella Brinlee (Manteca Morning Rotary Club), Diego Casillas (Manteca Morning Rotary Club), Celeni Vasquez Espinoza (Dan Beukelman Scholarship), Angel Jarquin (Dan Beukelman Scholarship), and Donovan Sanesanong (Dan Beukelman Scholarship).

The annual commencement exercises were led by Principal Michele Bryson and her staff.
