A pair of fast-food restaurants along with a gas station / convenience store with a car wash and an RV dealership are planned for the Ripon Crossing shopping center near Jack Tone Road.
Construction began not too long ago on Burger King and Popeye’s Chicken – both projects received the green light from the Ripon Planning Commission back in February.
Sunny Ghai, who is the owner of the Lathrop Burger King, mentioned back then that he had always wanted to open his fast-food restaurants in Ripon.
Commissioners, in April, gave the OK for Happy Daze RV Sales & Service to open a 39,848 square foot building on about 9.79 acres at nearby Kamps Way and Canal Boulevard. The full-time RV dealership based in Sacramento will feature a large variety of motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels and sports utility trailers.
In July, the Jack Tone Road / Canal Boulevard Gas Station project was approved by the Planning Commission.
The initial plans called for the convenience store to be a 24-hour operation.
But neighbors expressed their concerns safety, crime, traffic and noise that the area might attract.
Hours of operation, in order for approval, were changed to 5 a.m. to midnight.
The project will also feature a Tommy’s Express Car Wash to go with the 4,500 square-foot convenience store, eight pumps / 16 fueling station, and 12 electric vehicle charging stations.
The Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness opened at Ripon Crossing in the spring.
This 19,335 square-foot indoor steel-framed rock-climbing gym joined existing occupants Les Schwab Tire Center, Tractor Supply Co., and Boat Country.
One of the earlier occupants to this area just west of Highway 99 is The Canal Street Grille, which withstood an arson attack along with a tough economy while opening in 2007.
This year, in addition, saw the completion of Garrison Way.
The road runs parallel with the freeway, connecting the Frontage Road and taking travelers behind Boat Country to the front of Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness gym, and to the rear of Canal Street Grille.
