Bulletin reporter receives CSBA Golden Quill Award

Long-time Manteca Bulletin reporter Vince Rembulat is among the 2024 California School Board Association Golden Quill Award winners.

Each year, CSBA honors journalists for “fair, insightful, and accurate reporting on public school news.”

Nine including Jennifer Cortez (Desert Sun), Shirley Harriman (Lake Los Angeles News), Ashley McBride (Oaklandside), Nick Lozito (freelance journalist), Crystal Apilado (Winter Express), Alfredo Santana (Los Angeles Public Press), Wallace Allen (Westside Story Newspaper), and Donald Bendz (Oceanside USD, Department of Communications) were honored at the annual Education Conference & Trade Show held Dec. 6 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Rembulat has been with the Bulletin since 2003, having covered the Manteca Unified School District and Ripon Unified School District during that span.

He was presented with the award at the Oct. 15 RUSD school board meeting and attended the CSBA event thanks to RUSD.

According to CSBA, the Golden Quill Awards “highlight the essential role journalists play in increasing understanding of the objectives, operations, accomplishments related to public schools.”
