Blumhorst moves ahead of Lackey in Area 2 race funding
area 2
Area 2 hopefuls Judy Blumhorst, Gabe Galletta, and Regina Lackey

Judy Blumhorst has surpassed Regina Lackey in campaign contributions with 11 days left until the Manteca City Council Area 2 election.

Blumhorst has raised $41,264 as of Oct. 22. Lackey was at $35,884.

The last reporting period that ended Sept. 21 had  Lackey with $33,133 and  Blumhorst at $23,509.

The third candidate — Gabriel Galletta — has not raised enough donations to trigger the Fair Political Practices Commission’s campaign contribution filing requirement.

It should be noted $20,600 of Blumhorst’s contributions were loans from herself to her council campaign. Such loans are forgiven ultimately unless the committee pays them back.

Blumhorst reported having $8,359 on hand as of Oct. 19.

Lackey as of Oct. 19 had $12,680 that she could still spend.

The largest recent donations to Blumhorst’s campaign includes $1,500 from Yellow Transportation,   $1,000 from the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council Power PAC, $600 from the Democratic Club of Manteca, $500 from the Temple of Teachers DBA Guru Temple Manteca, $500 from Cheema Freightlines, $599 from Dhaba Express Inc. DBA as Dhaba Indian Cuisine, $500 from Star India Corp. DBA Star India Catering, and  $500 from Two Guys Food & Fuel.

The only contributions $500 or more Lackey has received as of Oct. 19 was $1,070 from Andrew Alexander and a nonmonetary contribution of yard signs worth $730 from TLC Real estate of REMAX Executive. Overall for the campaign, TLC Real Estate has contributed signs to Lackey’s effort worth a combined $1,084.

Area 2 includes Woodward Park that is part of Manteca south and east of the 120 Bypass and Union Road as well as the city east of Highway 99 except for The Collective neighborhood.

Candidates — as well as the voters that elect them — must reside with the boundaries of a specific council area.
