Pete Paulsen could use a helping hand.
He’s the organizer of the local non-profit Bike for Kids, which puts those donated bikes in need of some TLC back into service and available to those in need at no charge.
Paulsen has been dealing with health issues. He’s recovering after recently being hospitalized.
His Fathers’ Day weekend free bike giveaway is still on.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Bikes for Kids returns, with bikes being distributed at Paulsen Ranch, 1504 Bowman Road, French Camp.
A number system via drive-thru will again be used – families will be issued a number prior and must wait the signal in their car upon entering the premises.
Paulsen, who is sidelined due to his medical condition, will be absent on this day. He’s looking for volunteers to help in fixing up the bikes along with the distribution.
“Any help will be gratefully appreciated,” he said on Tuesday.
Paulsen started Bikes for Kids during the Christmas season of 2018 after he received some donated bikes from local businessman Vince Haro.
The free bike giveaway event – helped out by the proceeds from the various car and truck shows put on by Pete Paulsen coupled with sponsorships from some of the businesses – was held every year since during the holidays.
This is Bikes for Kids first go-around in the summer.
