The Manteca Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the armed assailant that robbed the Bank of the West on Commerce Avenue near Highway 99 just before noon on Tuesday.
According to the agency, just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday an unidentified male entered the bank facility located at 150 Commerce Ave. and informed a teller that he would like to make a withdrawal.
After a brief conversation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a black handgun and demanded an undetermined amount of cash from the teller. The suspect reportedly ran to a vehicle that was waiting and fled the area in an unspecified direction.
Because of the bank’s proximity to Highway 99 and the 120 Bypass, the Bank of the West on Commerce has been an attractive target for thieves over the years. It has been robbed multiple times since it was constructed. Multiple arrests have been made of those responsible – including one man that was targeting banks throughout the Northern San Joaquin Valley.
Anyone with information about the suspect or any information that may assist police in investigating the crime are encouraged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 209.456.8101.
