The sales of TNT and Phantom fireworks are in full swing during these next few days.

Among the half dozen booths in Ripon that opened these past few days is one in the parking lot at 206 S. Stockton Ave.

That’s the TNT Fireworks booth operated by American Legion Post 190.

“We’ve been here for the past 12 years or when the City of Ripon first approved the sales of fireworks as fundraisers (for local non-profits),” said Post Adjutant Ernie Tyhurst on Monday.

He and Post Commander Steve Verver were among those operating the fireworks booth on this day.

The proceeds raised during these next few days, according to Verver, will be used to “keep us functioning.”

The nearby Clinton McCausland American Legion building is currently undergoing a major remodeling, which started over four months ago.

The project is expected to be completed in the fall with the grand re-opening scheduled for Oct. 10.

As for the fireworks booth, Verver said the sales of the “Safe and Sane” – permitted legally to be sold and discharged from now until midnight of July 4 – has been “good” since opening two days ago. He’s bracing for business to really pick up on the days leading up to Thursday’s Independence Day holiday.

The hours of operation for the American Legion Post 190 booth will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
