Alizeh Ali took her seat Monday alongside elected leaders and officials of the Ripon Unified School District.
The Ripon High senior is the newest ASB Executive Board member. She was administered the oath of office by board President Caroline Hutto, and will report have a chance to weigh in on agenda items that are non personnel matters throughout the school year.
Ali, who had her family in attendance, was helped out at her first-ever school board meeting by Trustee Vince Hobbs.
“He’s been a mentor to me,” she said.
Besides having a vote that for the most part counts during the monthly sessions, Ali, as the student board representative, will provide reports on the school sites including RHS.
She said her experience of that first go-around on the school board was both “exciting and fun.”
