Roughly 1 in 10 San Joaquin County voters in the March 5 election cast ballots in person.
Everyone else — 113,158 people — voted by mail ballots.
The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voter office officially certified the March 5 election on Tuesday.
The final turnout for this election totaled 128,492 ballots cast, representing 34.9 percent of the 368,210 registered voters in San Joaquin County.
Of those ballots, 14,555 people cast ballots at polling place with another 79 voted in person early at the registrar’s office.
San Joaquin County — unlike many counties — opted to retain the ability to vote in-person at community polling places on Election Day as well as comply with the state mandate that all elections have ballots mailed to registered voters.
"I want to thank every individual who contributed to the success of the election — from the 1,222 poll workers to (our) staff to every voter who made their voices heard,” said San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters, Olivia Hale.
“We put in place multiple measures to ensure every vote was counted accurately and on time. At the end of this election, I can confidently say to every resident that San Joaquin County has once again conducted a transparent and thorough election.”
With the certification of the results of the 2024 Presidential Primary Election complete, the ROV will present the certified results to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 9..
The certified election results can be viewed on the registrar’s website.
