The Manteca Soroptimists Holiday Affair is coming up.
The 45th annual event will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Bank of Stockton, 660 N. Main St.
Tickets are now available.
Cost is $100 for two people. Included are food, drinks, and a chance to win cash door prizes and gift baskets – call 209.679.6074 for tickets or more information.
This will mark the 45th year for the Holiday Affair, which, according to Tedra Torrice of the local Soroptimists, is “one of our major Ways & Means projects to help meet our service budget and continue to help others not only in the community but worldwide.”
The first-ever Holiday Affair dates back to December 1980.
The grand prize was an automobile with the sold-out event being held at Delta Bank.
“After a few years, the cars became too costly and the members decided to go to cash prizes and other prizes donated by our members,” Torrice said.
Proceeds from the Soroptimist Holiday Affair also supports the club’s signature project, The Teen Crisis Counseling.
“Over the past 30-plus years, we have given the Teen Crisis project over $370,000 to help the youth of the Manteca Unified School District,” said Torrice.
School officials, meanwhile, have credited the teen crisis counselors for substantially reducing the potential for young people to make decisions that could result in negative consequences on their academic performances, future career paths, or even their lives, Torrice noted.
“Again, without the support of all of you, we would not be able to make the profit we do for our service fund,” she said.
In addition, Jeff and Tevani Liotard will handle the bar, including the setup along with disburse cocktails, wine, coffee, and the cleanup.
The Interact Club and other local high school youth organizations will also help with setting up and cleaning up.
“The last 15 years, we have held the event at the Bank of Stockton, which is large enough to meet our needs – we try to leave the facility in as good shape as we found it,” Torrice said.
