Local Ripon artists exhibited their work on Saturday, February 22, during the annual Almond Blossom Festival.
With the cooperation of the art departments of both Ripon High School and Ripon Christian High School, the show, which included art works by students, was held in the Ripon High School’s Multi-Use Building. Some 30 dault artists contributed to the display of paintings, ceramics, and jewelry.
The exhibit was enhanced by floral arrangements, made by the Ripon Christian High School’s Future Farmers of America team, last year’s winners of the national flower arrangement competition.
While an art show was part of the festival for many years, it became a casualty of the years of the Covid pandemic. Its revival this year, thanks to the support given by the Ripon Arts League, marks a return to tradition.
About 400 persons attended the show, and many expressed their pleasure at viewing the talent of local artists.
A ‘visitors choice’ award was given to a young artist, as well as one to an adult artist. Gabriella Clark, of Ripon High School, was the student winner, for her drawing. Janet White’s painting featuring a rooster, won the adult award.
