Memorial Day observations are planned for Monday in Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon, and French Camp.
Jimmie Connors Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6311 and McFall-Grisham American Legion Post 249 are hosting the joint ceremonies set for 10 a.m. at East Union Cemetery, Louise Avenue and Union Road in Manteca.
VFW Post Commander Bill Canfield will serve as master of ceremonies while the invocation and benediction will be led by VFW Post chaplain Richard Benavides.
Retired U.S. Army Major General Eldon Rugua who resides in Manteca will serve as the guest speaker. a representative from Congressman Josh Harder’s office will be in attendance.
The laying of the wreath will be conducted by the VFW Post and legion Post while Legion Post Adjutant Art Smith will recognize the fallen.
Christina Shay-Rosas will serve as the bell ringer, Dakota Johnson will sing the national anthem, Ivan Lopez will perform taps, and the VEW Post will conduct the 21-gun salute.
Cookies, punch, and coffee will be served following the ceremony. Lunch will be available afterwards at the VFW Hall on Moffat Boulevard for a $5 donation.
The Lathrop Memorial Day observation takes place at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Wall at Valverde Park, 15557 Fifth St., in Lathrop.
The VFW Post 52 out of Stockton will conduct Memorial Day ceremonies at 11 a.m. at Park View Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3661 East French Camp Road north of Manteca.
The Ripon observation will take place at the Ripon Cemetery.
