Manteca’s housing boom has triggered a storage boom.
More than 1,100 storage units along with outdoor storage for 532 recreational vehicles are now under construction within the city limits.
The projects come on the heels of Manteca issuing a record 1,306 single family housing permits in 2024.
The largest is an 884-unit storage complex being built on Atherton Drive in fast growing southwest Manteca.
The complex on 5.64 acres abutting Bella Vista Drive includes a 2,524-square-foot office building.
It is on the south side of Atherton just past the site in Manteca Crossing where Manteca’s second Food-4-Less store will be built.
The existing ARCO mini storage on North Main Street north of Northgate Drive is currently expanding onto land the company acquired after Caltrans removed the old Lathrop Road onramp flyover for northbound Highway 99.
A storage complex that will accommodate 532 recreational vehicles is now under construction on the north side of Woodward Avenue between Atherton Drive and Moffat Boulevard in south Manteca.
The 13.68-acre project, when completed, will be the largest RV and boat storage in the South County.
It will be a full service storage facility with a 2,400-square-foot office building, vehicle cleaning station, vehicle dumping station as well as propane and air filling stations.
There are also three other storage facilities approved by the City of Manteca or else in the review process.
They are:
*The Cottage Court Mini Storage featuring 311 storage units along with a 540-square-foot office plus 33 stalls to park RVs. The location on Cottage Court is to the north of Panera Bread and behind medical offices along Cottage Avenue.
*A mini-storage complex on the westside of Airport Way north of the railroad tracks and south of Lathrop Road.
*A RV and boat storage with 122 stalls just north of Yosemite Avenue in west Manteca on 5.23 acres at 259 Swanson Road behind ABF Freight and to the northeast across the tracks from the Lathrop-Manteca ACE station.
