Manteca has extended its contract with His Way Recovery House to operate the unsheltered emergency center at 555 Industrial Park Drive through June 30.
The local non-profit has been providing services at the location since Sept. 1, 2022.
The four-month contract is for $299,260. As such, it is costing the city right around $900,000 a year to run the center that will soon include housing the homeless in a pair of modular dorms with 50 beds overall.
The center provides a clean and safe area for persons experiencing homelessness to develop a pathway towards permanent housing, income, healthcare and stability.
This new agreement will allow the services currently offered at the center to continue.
Those services include resources during the day, available to both the unsheltered community and to those on the verge of being unsheltered.
The services are meals and food distribution, restroom and showers, clothing, transportation, case management, pet kennels and food, HMIS intake and service tracking, furniture, mail services, services referrals, and street outreach.
In the time His Way has been operating the center, the following services and successes have been provided:
*32,627 meals served;
* 15 individuals started a job;
* 10 individuals transitioned back with family;
*8 individuals received bus passes to return home;
*46 individuals entered into His Way Recovery House program; and
The city covers a large chunk of the contract cost with state grants to assist local homeless endeavors.
