$10,000 reward for info leading to arrest in murder
shooting victim
A year after 30-year-old Ramon Rios was gunned down in his car in broad daylight at one of Manteca’s busiest intersections, two non-profit foundations have earmarked a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Anybody with information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the shooting death of 30-year-old Ramon Rios last year in one of the busiest intersections in Manteca is now eligible for a $10,000 reward.

On Wednesday, the Manteca Police Department announced that the Luis G. Alvarez Jr. Rewards for Justice Foundation and the Misty Holt Singh Foundation have agreed to provide a $10,000 incentive to those that provide the information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for gunning down the father of two that had spent the earlier part of the day of his death trying to get prequalified to buy a home for his family.

Rios, who had spent his entire life living in the South County, was driving his 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass to pick up his family dinner near the intersection that houses both In-N-Out Burger and Chick-fil-A when he was gunned down in broad daylight. While police responded to the scene and canvassed the area looking for any information that may identify the shooter(s), nobody has come forward in the last year to help augment the investigation and effort to identify those responsible.

Investigators put out a call for information in July of last year asking for the public’s help after exhausting all possible leads, and investigators – including a prosecutor from the district attorney’s office – had been looking into ways to put together a reward to entice those that may know what happened to come forward.

On Wednesday, the family of the slain local father announced that they would be putting up a billboard near the intersection where he was gunned down in a desperate attempt to coax information out from those who may currently be holding it.

“The Manteca Police Department is committed to solving all homicide investigations and we need the public’s assistance in bringing the suspect(s) to justice,” the Manteca Police Department wrote in announcement of the reward. “We are asking anyone with information about this homicide to contact our department’s tip line at 209.823.4636.”
