Happy Wheelers yard sale set for Saturday

A yard sale this Saturday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 165 Watson Ave. benefits the Happy Wheelers.
The Happy Wheelers is an informal group of adults with various handicaps that make it necessary for them to depend on ‘wheels’ (wheel chairs, scooters, walkers, etc.) to get around. Members include friends and families. The support group was formed in 1992 as an outreach to share experiences, both good and bad, in a way to help each other in dealing with life’s little happenings.

Recognizing they face sufficient challenges already, they have stayed unaffiliated to any other group. They chose to support our members interests while remaining social, recreational, non-sectarian and non-political. They finance their activities by accepting donations at each meeting. They try to hold an annual yard sale in the spring to pay for their summer barbecue and extra items.

They participate in city parades and other community events. They keep in touch with city concerns so needs of the handicapped are addressed in a timely manner. They try to meet the third Saturday of each month at the United Lutheran Church social hall for a potluck lunch, fun activities and sometimes a guest speaker.
