STOCKTON — Dean Andal will not challenge Congressman Jerry McNerney to a rematch in California’s 11th Congressional District next year.
“It was a spirited campaign this last time around,” said Andal, “but I’ve decided on a different path — one that still gives me an opportunity to stand up for California taxpayers. Although I enjoyed the time I spent with voters, this is the right decision for me and my family right now.”
A recognized expert on tax and fiscal policy, Andal has joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Director focusing on California tax issues.
Andal served eight years on the State Board of Equalization and the Franchise Tax Board, earning praise from taxpayer groups for his efforts to increase taxpayer protections, improve service and streamline operations.
He also served on the U.S. Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce, helping to develop tax policy in this vital area.
Andal had earlier served four years in the California Legislature, where he was the chief budget negotiator for Assembly Republicans and a member of the Revenue & Taxation and Ways & Means Committees.
During his service in the Legislature and on the BOE, Andal saved California taxpayers over $180 million.
