Neil Hafley promotes over 100 students

Thirty-five eighth graders wore honorary gold cords Tuesday evening credited with having grade point averages of 3.5 or above and another 11 attained perfect 4.0 grades, according to Principal Steve Anderson. 

Of the more than 100 going through their promotion ceremonies before family and friends there were another 20 that scored between 3.0 and 3.5 grade point averages.

Following their entrance into the outdoor amphitheater, student body president Darion Hester welcomed guests and led the flag salute.  The Neil Hafley School Band played the Star-Spangled Banner

Steve Anderson presented the class and Clara Schmiedt, senior director of secondary education, accepted the students for passage into the district’s high schools.

Student council officers graduating included Darion Hester, president; Andy Parcells, vice president; Aleah Jarin, secretary; and Kinsey Ackerman, treasurer.



Golden West

Student addresses at Golden West School’s promotion Tuesday night included A Time to Say Good-Bye, One Big Family and Lessons learned.

Tehya Elliott and Daniela Valles led the group with their good-bye piece as Raygan Both presented her One Big Family.  Lessons Learned was presented by Eric Flores and Santos Rolon.

Following the Pomp and Circumstance recessional the pledge of allegiance was led by Vanessa Hernandez.  Celina Burks and Sierra Wingart took care of introductions and Sherie Gates welcomed the guests.

Principal Sherie Gates presented the class for promotion and school district trustee Evelyn Moore accepted the class members for promotion into the area high schools. 

The student council officers were Raygan Both, president; Ezra Lenhart, vice president; Vanesa Hernandez, secretary; Nathaniel Padilla, treasurer; Celina Burks, activities director.



French Camp

French Camp School saw some 70 students promoted before parents and friends Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

Principal Joanne Balesteri greeted the students and the audience before calling on the four student speakers to give their remarks.

Speaking were Amy Gann, Marianna Urbini, Alejandro Sanchez and Edmi Lopez.

Awards were presented by both the principal and vice Principal Maria Fisicaro.  Special recognition was given to two students for their excellent character qualities they demonstrated in the classroom.  They were Olivia Maryhofen and Justin Bueno – both gold cord recipients.

The promotion certificates were presented by Cheryl Meeker, director of elementary education and Manuel Medeiros, school district trustee.
