Felician Crisostomo was one of 11 valedictorians announced at Tuesday’s eighth-grade promotion exercises at Mossdale School.

He was also selected to speak on behalf of the 94 students bidding adieu to the Lathrop site.

“I’ve seen people come and go,” said Crisostomo, who was one of only a handful of the original students at Mossdale back when the school opened in 2007. “I’ve also seen so many new students over the years.”

Principal Susan Sanders, who ushered in the Class of 2012 with her former French Camp School colleague Roger Goatcher – as the official representative of Manteca Unified, he was on hand to accept the class for promotion to high school – called this group “the most accomplished” academically during her five years at Mossdale.

Also included were three salutatorians.

Carlos Jaimes and Tamaera Cuizon were the student speakers at Veritas School’s promotion ceremony.

“As we go on to high school, everyone will go their separate ways,” Cuizon said.

Jaimes believed that the group of nearly 50 students will always be considered family. “We created some tight bonds over the years,” he added.

Candice Lao and Haleigh Petersen were announced as the top academic students. Both earned perfect 4.0 GPAs during the past two years.

Gurdeep Bhinder and Myricia Amey also claimed academic achievement honors while John Mendoza, Avjit Singh and Alexandria Brockmeier received Character Awards.
