Love Ripon volunteers helping Ripon schools

Love Ripon is coming up.

Trustees of the Ripon Unified School District, during the 7 p.m. open session tonight y in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave., will hear what's in the plans for Love Ripon scheduled for April 12 in Director of Maintenance & Operation Andy Strickland's Facility Report.

Included are sprucing up the Ripon High Amphitheater and cleaning the football field drains at Stouffer Field; repairing and painting the restrooms at Park View Elementary School along with general clean up; miscellaneous painting, landscaping and clean up at Ripona Elementary School; and removing sod for new garden and paint lines on the playground at Weston Elementary School.

In other agenda items:

•Sean Derrick is scheduled to receive a Crystal Apple Award from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

•Wallace Khul & Associates will provide a soil sampling and laboratory analysis at Weston Elementary School.

•Principal Dana Phelps and Susan Taylor will give a presentation on what's going on at Ripon Elementary School.

•Chief Operation Officer Frank Jerome will discuss the 2019-20 calendar, in particular, recent changes consisting of Ripon High homecoming (Oct. 4), minimum day (April 3) before spring break, and the additional teacher professional development day at the beginning of the school year.
