The Ripon Unified District-Wide Spelling Bee is tonight at Park View Elementary School.
The top spellers in the Elementary Division (fourth- through- sixth- grade students) and the Junior Division (seventh- through- ninth- graders) will battle it out beginning at 6 o’clock in the Multi-Use Room.
Each student made it to the district competition by placing at the school level – namely, Ripon Elementary, Ripona, Colony Oak, Weston and Park View.
Superintendent Ziggy Robeson will serve as the Spell Master.
Those placing in the two divisions will advance to next month’s San Joaquin County Spelling Bee.
Students in the Elementary Division will take part in the mandatory elimination round at San Joaquin County Office of Education on Monday, Dec. 3. From there, the Top 15 will advance to the finals on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Wentworth Education Services Center at 2707 Transworld Drive in Stockton.
All Junior Division participants from their respective school districts will also compete at SJCOE on Dec. 5.
Winners and the runner-up in both divisions will compete in the state Spelling Bee during the spring.
