Parents and guardians are now able to submit electronic applications for free and reduced school breakfast and lunch through the Manteca United School District website.
The application is on the MUSD website home page at www.mantecausd.net.
This year meal benefit applications were also mailed to each household in the district as a convenience to parents. Applications are also available at each school site or the Nutrition Services Department in the District complex.
Free and reduced meal applications are completed by households each school year under the auspices of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. The federal government provides the guidelines that determine eligibility. These guidelines are based household income and the number of people in the households. Households are considered any person living in the home as a single economic unit; including non-school age children and adults. They are very simple to complete and require a minimum of information. Applications are available in English and Spanish. For assistance contact Tracey Kestyus at 858-0733.
Children who receive Food Stamp, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (Cal Works), Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payments (Kin-GAP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations benefits are automatically eligible for free meals regardless of the income of the household in which they reside.
Foster students are also now eligible for free meals and can be added to the household application.
