Don Scholl is reprising his role as president of the Manteca Unified School District Board of Trustees for 2014.
Selected to serve as vice president, also for the second year in a row, during the last meeting of the board for 2013 was Trustee Evelyn Moore. Michael Seelye is likewise retaining his old post.
Scholl was the unanimous choice and was the only one nominated for board president.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve another year,” commented Scholl who promptly officiated over the other appointments right after accepting his second mandate.
The voting for the other nominees did not go as quickly as the one that retained Scholl. Area 1 Trustee Sam Fant was nominated both for the office of vice president and clerk by Trustee Nancy Teicheira. Nominated along with Fant for vice president was Trustee Evelyn Moore. The roll call vote was 3-4 against Fant who received the first nomination. The voting then moved on to Moore who won by receiving a majority vote of 4-3.
For the office of clerk of the board, Seelye got the first nomination followed by Fant who was again nominated by Teicheira. Seelye clinched the position by a majority of 4-3 which ended the voting.
Rounding out the seven-member Board of Trustee panel are Deborah Romero and Manuel Medeiros.
The annual re-organization of the board takes place at the end of the year.
