Stella Brockman Elementary School sent some 115 eighth graders to high school Wednesday night with 16 of them having 4.0 grade point averages for every trimester during the year.

Most of the students will go to either Sierra or East Union.

Another 27 students earned recognition for scoring 3.5 GPAs during the same periods in their last year of elementary school.

Students entered through a balloon arch of their blue and white school colors to “Pomp and Circumstance” as parents stood, clapping and cheering them on toward the stage area in the excited processional that preceded a formal flag salute that involved both the students and the audience.

Class President Tori Vasquez was honored as the class speaker for the evening after Principal Candice Espinola welcomed the audience and made the appropriate introductions.

Student awards were presented by Erick Kimball, Fallon Phillips, Trevor Small and Erin Steele.

Manteca Unified School District director of school readiness, Nancy Leal officially certified the students in the class as having completed their elementary school curriculum of study.
