Dine out and enjoy.

That’s the message currently posted at De Vega Brothers for Manteca Restaurant Week.

The inaugural event of the Manteca Convention and Visitors Bureau is scheduled Monday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 3.

Restaurant Week is designed to highlight local businesses and encourage folks to sample the local dining options.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Kandie Madden, who is the manager for the Italian eatery located at 515 N. Main St.

De Vega Brothers has been a Manteca restaurant fixture for about 10 years, and was started by Alberto and Rafael Vega.

Madden is hoping that Restaurant Week will entice more customers in to experience something new to their taste buds.

“I think it will be a success,” she said on Thursday.

Manteca is known as the “Pumpkin Capital of the World.”

The CVB is encouraging each of the restaurants participating to feature at least one pumpkin dish.

De Vega Brothers, for example, will feature pumpkin pie.

“(Pumpkin pie) will be the dessert on all of our menus,” said JoAnn Li, who sets the De Vega Brothers menu for Restaurant Week.

Thanks to Prix Fixe menus, customers can come in and sample various dishes at reasonable prices.

The De Vega Brothers selections will consist of the following:

•No. 1 is a two-course lunch meal priced at $9 person. The first course is a choice of the De Vega cheese steak sandwich, French dip, or calamari sandwich. Second course is a pick between ice cream or pumpkin pie.

•No. 2 is a three-course lunch meal at $12 per person. The first course is soup or green salad. Mediterranean pasta, chicken salad, linguine and clam or pasta salsiccia are the choices for the second course, with ice cream or pumpkin pie as the dessert selections.

•A $15 per person, three-course dinner that starts off with a choice of green salad or soup followed by chicken or veal picatta. Dessert is a choice of pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, cheese cake, or ice cream.

•A $20 per person dinner is a three-course meal consisting of green salad or soup option for starters. The second course is a choice shrimp scampi or salmon Florentino. Pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, cheese cake, or ice cream (pick one) will be among the dessert choices.

•A $25 per person dinner includes a choice of lamb chops or rib-eye steak as the main course, with soup or green salad for starters, and pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, cheese cake or ice cream as the dessert options.

Many of the meals will include mixed vegetables as the side order.
