A Body Vi Community Challenge has been organized to support the health of nutritionally challenged children and seniors today at 5 p.m. the Manteca Ford new car showroom with raffle monies going to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Gina Rosamond is focusing her effort along with 15 area vendors on the Project 10 Challenge that is designed to help people lose weight by replacing a non-healthy meal with healthy shakes and cookies. The food bank will see that the same products will be distributed to children in need of a nutritious meal in the form of a shake.

Launched in 2009, the Vi Community Challenge allows anyone to donate the nutritional shakes and cookies to more than 250 children’s charities committed to helping hungry or overweight children receive good nutrition needed to grow up healthy and strong.

Each $24 donation from the public buys 30 kid sized nutritional shakes and the ViSalus firm then matches shake for shake, automatically doubling the donation. Cost of the program starts at $49 a month but when several friends join the cost can drop to being cost free, Rosamond said.
