The new truck, the first one purchased here since 1954, has a Hale pump that delivers 750 gallons a minute. It comes completely equipped with all the standard items, and also includes a resuscitator, two-way radio and a public address system.

Citing safety concerns, the Manteca City Council Monday night turned down a proposal to legalize fireworks in the city limits. Councilman Wayne Flores proposed legalizing fireworks in Manteca because he says people are already lighting fireworks in the city, despite the ban. He said it “would create an opportunity for fun while getting Manteca out of the pre-historic age.” The majority of the council disagreed, however.
