Since the beginning to the month, Pixie Woods Amusement Park has re-opened for the new season.

That’s great news for the “young in age and young at heart.”

Since 1954, Pixie Woods has been Stockton’s own fairyland.

“It’s like a magical fairy tale for kids,” said Jessica Arnaiz, who took her three children ranging in age from 10 to 3 there back in October.  “They called it the place of never ending playgrounds.”

The Arnaiz family forged long-lasting memories that day of Pixie Woods, joining over 1 million visitors from all 50 states and other countries having journeyed through the signature rainbow gates over the past six decades.

Many have taken an excursion down the lagoon on the Pixie Queen paddle-wheel boat or climbed aboard the Pixie Express Train through Frontier Town and the old tunnel.

“I used to drive the train a long time ago,” said Matt Kenney.

Alisia Michelotti recalled when fireworks were once shot out to of the volcano in the middle of the lagoon.

Pixie Woods had actual pigs housed in the three pig exhibit and real mice in the clock and fish tanks in the old pirate ship were once part of the attraction.

Those were memories of yesteryear shared recently by those on social media.

Today, Pixie Woods has maintained beautiful and well-manicured grounds not to mention a vintage merry-go-round and numerous slides. The upkeep of the park has been made possible by the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individuals.

Last year, for example, Pacific Gas and Electric made a contribution that went towards maintenance and repairs.

Many of the attractions are straight out of the nursery rhymes. Take the Little Old Lady Who Lived in A Shoe. Pixie Woods commemorates that with a large spiral slide through a concrete shoe.

The Little Old Lady shoe slide along with the old pirate ship, the giraffe slide, the vintage carousel and the Three Pigs slide are among the original features of the park.

Pixie Woods continues to be a special place for people of all ages.

“It made us feel like kids all over again,” Arnaiz said.
