John Vanderwerf hosted the Manteca Chamber of Commerce coffee Wednesday morning at his Moffat Boulevard Honest Automotive business where he received a check from PG&E for $7,000.
The check represents incentives paid for those who take part in a solar imitative designed to recue power load on the existing generation system
Vanderwerf was lauded for being the electric company’s 10,000th California Initiative customer who installed a solar system on the roof of his new business.
A Manteca resident for more than a decade and a small business owner, Vanderwerf said he is committed to reducing the carbon footprint by ensuring that his customers’ vehicles operate at optimum efficiency levels and by designing a facility that is energy efficient.
The Honest Automotive solar installation was sized in excess of four kilowatts and is expected to produce some 7,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity each year. This will reportedly eliminate an estimated 734 pounds of carbon emissions annually.
Since its inception in January of 2007, the California Incentive Program has provided financial incentives for solar installations for existing residential homes as well as existing and new commercial, industrial and agricultural properties.
Through the CSI program, PG&E has the potential to provide an additional $670 million in solar incentives.
Since 2001, PG&E has interconnected more than 30,000 customer-owned, solar-generating systems to the power grid and has provided more than $500 million in solar incentives through the CSI program and PG&E’s other self generation incentive programs. These programs together represent more than 300 megawatts of electricity, more than any other utility in the nation
