The 2011 Kia Optima EX GDI is a world class sedan.
That’s according to the March online publication of Family Car Guide. The reviewer deemed it “one of the nicest mid-size front-wheel-drive sedans I’ve sampled in recent history.”
For the see-it-for-yourself consumer, the Optima is available for test drive at Kia Country, 1515 N. Main St., Manteca.
The EX GDI model – the “EX,” by definition, means top of the line while “GDI” stands for gas direct injection – is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine with 6-speed transmission and a sporty look to boot.
The Optima gets an estimated 24 mpg city, 34 mpg highway.
The car has exterior features that include the set-in headlamp / fog lamp, a large front grille, and dual exhaust pipes with chrome tips.
The turbo EX GDI is also available in the 18-inch luxury design alloy wheels.
The Optima has plenty of conveniences from behind the driver’s seat, from the multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel equipped with audio / trip computer control and cruise control / phone functions, to the single-touch operation in controlling both front windows and dual pane sunroof.
The car delivers a smooth ride thanks in part to the MacPherson struts and multi-links along with front and rear stabilizer bars. Couple that with the rack and pinion powered–assisted steering and the ventilated front and rear disc brakes.
As for safety, the Optima comes with dual front airbags, front feet mounted side airbags, and the full-length side curtain airbags. The 3-point seat belts accommodate all positions.
As added features, Kia offers a navigation system equipped high resolution backup camera, Infinity audio system, and eight booming speakers.
The Optima EX GDI is priced at $25,000 and above.
