East Union’s girls basketball team can finally avoid van rides for the next couple weeks after playing its final road game of the regular season on Thursday.

The Lancers, who played a road-heavy schedule in the past month-plus, took care of Patterson, 53-39. Three games remain in the Valley Oak League, and they’ll face Central Catholic next Tuesday at Dalben Center.

“Every road game is tough, but this one is a little tougher because we’ve never played here before,” East Union coach Jim Agostini said. “Plus, they’re a good team that is ranked high in Division II. We played a nice, solid game, took care of the basketball and rebounded well. It was a really good defensive night for us, especially in the second half.”

East Union (8-1 VOL, 18-6 overall) led 30-23 at halftime and held the Tigers (5-4, 19-6) to single figures in each of the final two quarters to pull away.

Offensively, the Lancers were balanced behind Zyondupree Beasley’s 10 points. Shebra Rezaye and Haven Stone each had eight. Jayda Anderson and Alessandra Montes had seven apiece. Montes scored all of her points in the second half.

Kailani Ortiz fired 15 points for Patterson.
