The rubber game of the series went to Ripon Christian.
With Stone Ridge Christian ending Ripon Christian’s season in the 2023 playoffs, Ripon Christian answered back by downing Stone Ridge Christian in the 2024 Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI girls championship game.
The two teams met again on Tuesday, and after a scoreless first half host Ripon Christian came alive for a 3-0 non-league win.
“We started a little slow,” Ripon Christian coach David Morris said. “A lot of passed balls didn’t make it to feet. It was a frustrating first half in terms of not getting the ball into the net, and we had a lot of opportunities wide. A lot of shots without a lot of results.
“I am proud of how hard our girls are working to progress. I think tonight was another progression game, so we love to see them continue to connect passes to feet and then shots on goal. I am proud with how we are playing, and I think we still have some good development to come this year.”
Naomi Hendricks got Ripon Christian (4-0-1) on the board in the 44th minute on a pass from Alanna Blanco.
“I just tried to aim for the far post,” Hendricks said. “I was shooting away from the goalie.”
Addison DeJong notched her brace on assists from Hendricks and then Cora Vander Muelen. Vander Muelen’s pass was long and arcing, giving DeJong the opportunity to square up and blast her shot to the far post.
“Before I went in our coach said we needed to produce goals,” DeJong said. “The team passed the ball around, and I was lucky enough to get the ball at the right time.
“On the second one, I had to calm down, stop and aim for the far post.”
Ripon Christian enjoyed a 30-5 shot advantage with 23 shots on goal to just four for Stone Ridge Christian (0-2). Ripon Christian goalie kept her clean sheet with four saves and Stone Ridge Christian goalie MacKenzie Anderson was kept busy with 23 saves.
Ripon Christian hosts Grace Davis on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
