The world lost a wonderful woman but the Lord gained a new one. On May 6, 2012 Dora L. Slife lost her battle with cancer. She was born 73 years ago in Santa Maria, CA to Ysidro Ledesma and Maria Guzman.
Dora, who lived in Manteca for 23 years, was a retired cashier and an active member of the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxillary and the St. Anthony's Rosary Group. Known to everyone as 'Mama', she loved everyone and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also had a passion for traveling.
Dora was the wife of the late James C. Slife and the loving mother to son, Jerry Mallo, Jr. of White Sulpher Springs, MT and daughters Tina First-Leet of LeRoy, NY and Teresa Brott of Manteca, CA. Dora was the wonderful sister to brothers Rudy Ledesma, George Hernandez, Steve Ledesma, Raymond Basques and James Ledesma and sisters Alice Walker, Ophelia Skiver, Carmen Barraza, Gloria Varker, Patricia Dos Reis, Slyvia Kapplemann, Socorro Ledesma and Vera Stange. She was the amazing grandmother to Mark McDonald, Jr, Jennifer Batten, Amanda Mallo and Skye First-Leet and great-grandmother to Isabella Mallo and Rylee McDonald.
A mass will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:30am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, located at 505 E. North Street, Manteca, CA 95336. There will be a Good Faith Potluck immediately following the mass at the Clubhouse, located at 1901 E. Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, CA 95336.
