Manteca, Lathrop & Ripon tree lightings are set for next week

Tree lighting for the Christmas trees in Lathrop will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7. The holiday event will also include the parade along 5th Street beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the lighting of the tree in front of Lathrop Community Center parking lot on 5th Street at 6:30.

Manteca’s Tree of Lights will be turned on during ceremonies on Monday, Dec. 2.

The San Joaquin Hospice event is at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Cottage Avenue and North Street.

Tree of Lights offers a chance for anyone in the community to recognize the people who have impacted their lives, through a memorial or honorary light dedication. 

Donations are accepted through the end of the year. 

The donations will support Hospice of San Joaquin’s programs for terminally ill patients and their families. 

Memory boards will be updated twice in December.

Lathrop

The City of Lathrop’s annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Parks & Recreation Department will serve as host to this festive celebration, with “Light up the Night” serving as this year’s theme.

Temporary road closures, effective from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., will take place along the parade route on Thomsen Road (Manteca Unified Annex parking lot), J Street, and 5th Street.

The parade, consisting of floats, balloons, marching bands, dance groups, and equestrian, will begin at 5 p.m. on Thomsen Road, heading east and on to 5th Street (north bound), and then turning west on to J Street and concluding in the Grace Community Church parking lot at 850 J St.

The lighting of the tree, adjacent to the Lathrop Community Center parking lot on 5th Street, is scheduled to start after the parade at about 6:30. In addition, the special event will feature parade entry awards, Christmas performances, cookies & cocoa, vendors, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Ripon

The 13th annual Tree of Lights Ceremony will take place on Monday, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Wall.

This special Ripon Christmas tradition is held in partnership with the Hospice of San Joaquin, which will once again provide remembrance photo boards.
