Help sought to refurbish used bikes

Pete Paulsen is in search for volunteers.

He has the bikes but is in need of help in providing labor along with some TLC for his non-profit Bike For Kids program.

This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Paulsen is hoping for people to find time from their busy schedules and help out in refurbishing used bikes in time for the second annual Christmas Giveaway.

“It’s our work day,” he said.

Volunteers can enjoy pizza while they work courtesy of Mountain Mike’s in Weston Ranch.

The Bikes For Kids work day will take place at the Paulsen Ranch in French Camp located at 1504 W. Bowman Rd. (turn into the River Mill parking lot and go directly to the end of the road to reach the Paulsen garage).

The Paulsen Ranch is also where the Bikes For Kids Christmas Giveaway will take place that following Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“It’s going to be a fun-filled day for everyone,” Pete Paulsen said.

Special guest will be Santa Claus, who will be passing out cookies and hot chocolate as well as coffee for adults with help from his elves.

“Any kids that needs a bike for any reason is welcome with no questions asked,” Paulsen said, indicating that Bikes For Kids will have bikes for children of all ages.

In addition, he’ll have food trucks at the bike giveaway event.

Paulsen distributed bikes to children in the nearby Haven of Peace Women’s Shelter about a year ago, receiving a generous donation from Vince Haro Co. yard cleanup.
